EXPANDING THE ARCHAEOLOGICAL FOOTPRINT – THE MAWSON'S HUTS HISTORIC SITE AS A SCIENTIFIC SITE – A CASE STUDY WITH A GEOLOGICAL EMPHASIS

Bio: Anne McConnell is an archaeologist and a Quaternary geologist by training. She has worked in Aboriginal and historical cultural heritage management in Australia for the last 30 years, including for seven years as a geoarchaeologist in Victoria. Anne's geological background took her to the Vestfold Hills in the 1996/1997 summer and Heard Island in 1999/2000 summer to work on geomorphic mapping and landscape history reconstruction projects, and in the summer of 2007/2008 Anne finally got to go south as an archaeologist. This was to work at the Mawsons Huts Historic Site with the Mawsons Huts Foundation Team. The paper is derived from the work undertaken as part of this expedition.
