Trevor Popp - driller
Center for Ice and Climate, Niels Bohr Institute, University of Copenhagen
I prepared the Danish Hans Tausen drill, borehole reamer and drilling accessories, for deployment to Aurora Basin. I will set up and operate the drill at the site.
I am currently an Associate Professor at the Center for Ice and Climate, Niels Bohr Institute. I hold a PhD in Geology from the University of Colorado. My expertise is in the use of water-stable isotopes to study natural processes and reconstruct climate from ice cores.
For more than 15 years I have been involved in field expeditions as an ice core driller for the North Greenland Ice core Project (NGRIP), Flade Isblink, the North Greenland Eemian Ice Drilling (NEEM), and at Mt. Moulton in Antarctica. I spent one season representing the Science Coordinator Office in the field for the West Antarctic Ice Sheet Divide ice core project.
