Stream Leaders
In line with the Australian Antarctic Science Strategic Plan 2011-12 to 2020-21, Stream Leaders have been appointed to support Theme Leaders in developing and implementing each of the science streams identified in the plan.
The role of Stream Leaders will be to support Theme Leaders as follows:
- Provide scientific expertise that guides the development and scope of priority research within the Stream.
- In consultation with Theme Leaders, provide advice and guidance to members of the scientific community on the development of expressions of interest (EOIs) and Australian Antarctic Science (AAS) proposals.
- Liaise with the science community through conferences, workshops, site visits and one-on-one communication to promote the Antarctic science program (i.e. playing an Ambassadorial role for the program).
- Provide input to updates of the Stream Implementation Plan, based on their own expertise and input from the scientific community.
- Monitor progress of Stream activities through engagement with the community, and provide advice to Theme Leaders on annual progress reports.
- Provide advice to Theme Leaders on assessment of EOIs within their stream.
- Assist with the organisation and facilitation of Stream Workshops and the annual Antarctic science symposium.
