Australian Antarctic Division Director Dr Tony Press has been appointed the new Chief Executive Officer of the Antarctic Climate and Ecosystems Cooperative Research Centre (ACE CRC), based at the University of Tasmania. An announcement was made today at ACE CRC headquarters in Hobart.

The ACE CRC is one of the world's leading climate research centres. Its researchers study the role of Antarctica and the Southern Ocean in global and regional climate and the impacts of climate change on Antarctica and Southern Ocean Ecosystems.

The CRC is a unique collaboration between core partners the Australian Antarctic Division, CSIRO Marine and Atmosphere, the University of Tasmania, the Bureau of Meteorology and a consortium of other partners.

Dr Press will take up the appointment in early 2009.
