Customs requirements

The AAD ships cargo from overseas and domestically within Australia. Domestic goods must be manifested differently to goods being transported from overseas to Antarctica.

All Return To Australia (RTA) cargo is subject to compliance with the Customs Act 1901, and must be cleared through the Customs Integrated Cargo System (ICS) prior to the goods being released to the AAD. Once the goods are released to the AAD, then these goods can be dispatched onto their final destination.

Details of cargo should be entered into the AAD electronic consignment system (external access).
