September arrived with beautiful weather and the weekend saw another group out to Auster Rookery. The sunshine and minimal winds had the birds happily roaming about, chicks onboard, making it an extraordinary experience for visitors.

For those back on station, Donna put on a delicious Chinese banquet enjoyed by all, and as ever there was no shortage of options.

Clear skies have meant the star and aurora gazers have had some opportunity for great Milky Way and Aurora skies — sights we need to make the most of now as our days get ever longer and we remember a time with no night will soon come.

On Wednesday, our long-planned trip to Ledingham’s Depot (approximately 150km west of station) finally got a suitable weather window enabling them to depart. So by next issue, we should be able to give you some information as to what lies out that way!
