Well, here we are at Mawson, and any day now we will see the helicopters. Just in case you are not sure what a S76 looks like, here is a sneek peek – something looking like this should be on the way very very soon.
In the meantime we have all been busy making sure the workshops and station remain in a clean tidy state ready for handover. I have never seen the Sparkies' workshop so clean.
Work still goes on
While we wait work still goes on and finishing touches were being done on the sauna in the new mezzanine in the Green Store. Boj was happily testing it out and seeing if it was suitably comfortable.
Sea ice drilling is still being conducted each week and, with the warmer weather, we have noticed the ice starting to decrease, but there is still plenty of ice over 1600 mm thick. The carpenters are continuing with their works program and have done up a collage of some of their year.
Farewell to the 2008 Wintering Team
This could be our last news for this wintering crew. As we are all heading in different directions, some staying on at Mawson and others heading to Davis, I thought I would give a bit of an idea where each of us are headed once the changeover occurs.
Staying on at Mawson for the Summer:
Heading off to Davis for the Summer:
Heading back to Freemantle then home to family and friends:
So from those of us here at Mawson for 2008 – best wishes to the incoming crew and we hope you have a great Year
