A day at the beach

This week at Macquarie Island: 23 December 2011
Just like the rest of Australia, summer has arrived on Macquarie Island. What better way to celebrate than having a day at the beach! Now, that may seem a little absurd in the sub-antarctic, but the weather gods decided to humour us this week. We have had several fabulous days of sun and warmth (12°C) with very little wind. So, off to the beach it was – for sun bathing, building sand castles, playing in the water and generally having a good time!
