With the ship on its way, it was time to get the station "ship shape". The obvious place to start was the reason for our V1 ship visit, the main power house (MPH).

Meggsy has the MPH all ready for the new generator. The old generator has been removed and the generator bed is ready and waiting after its nice, new Caterpillar yellow paint job.

The Hass House bathroom is also getting the "ship shape" treatment with chippy doing some painting. Soon the bathroom will be so clean and white that he won't risk letting the Hass House residents use it.

The kitchen didn't escape the "ship shape" movement either. A few foolish people volunteered to help the chef and the slushie with the cleaning. The walls and ceiling got a clean, and the rangehood required three expeditioners donning those very attractive white overalls.

The station gets its water from the dam at the top of Gadgets Gully. Every year, the dam has to be drained. All the mud, rocks and dead animal carcasses that have collected have to be removed, glorious work. It is hard work, but the plumber and his rabble of workers managed to remove all the debris from the dam and it is now "ship shape" too. Thanks to the recent miserable weather the dam is full again.

It is all well and good if the station is "ship shape", but what about the crew? With the recent death of the station treadmill, it is now necessary for the expeditioners to go that extra mile to keep "ship shape".

A round-robin ping pong tournament was organised to keep the station healthy and fit. Most teams showed some talent, others showed a lack of teamwork, but fun was had by all. Captain and Elwood proved the championship combination, going undefeated to claim bragging rights.

Now that the station and its crew are "ship shape" all we have to do is wait for the ship to turn up.

That is all for this week.
