‘An Antarctic expedition is the worst way to have the time of your life.’
Aspley Cherry-Garrard, 2 January 1886–18 May 1959 (at the age of 24 a member of Scott’s ill-fated Terra Nova Expedition).

Luckily our experience has not been as tough as that experienced by Scott and his men and the V4 arrival is now upon us. Yes, the Aurora Australis will arrive in the next few days to take 50 of us away, completing the 2010-11 summer season, and finally leaving the 24 winterers (four just arrived) in peace to enjoy this fantastic place. They said the summer would go quickly but this is ridiculous.

First some photos of the station this season and how it has changed over the past few months.
