Arrival at Kingston

First stop Kingston

If you are an AAD-employed expeditioner, once you get to Head Office in Kingston, you will be involved in finalising your medical examinations if you have not already done so, and participate in various inductions as well as a range of trade and professional training courses. You will undergo some field training and be kitted out with the clothing and equipment you need to work in Antarctica.

If you are a participant in the AAp but not an AAD employee, you will undergo many of the same activities, but these will vary according to the individual situation.

The length of your stay in Hobart will depend on your job and the duration you will be in Antarctica. You will already have received a predeparture package of information. These web pages will provide a little more detail.
