Annual base salary (while in Australia)
$70,667 pa ($2,709 per fortnight before tax)
In addition whilst working in Antarctica allowances of $52,632 pa are payable.
As the Station Laboratory Manager you'll provide a range of technical, maintenance and administrative functions in support of various scientific programs undertaken by the Australian Antarctic program (AAp) and be responsible for the day to day running of a station laboratory in Antarctica.
While performing tasks involved in maintaining support facilities and specialised equipment, you'll also coordinate laboratory occupational health and safety matters, including liaising with the Laboratory Manager in Kingston. You're responsible for implementing AAD laboratory policies and work practices, including those relating to OH&S and the environment, sample management and AQIS.
Additionally you'll manage Science Branch chemicals and laboratory consumables stores and coordinate the resupply of laboratory stock, equipment and consumables through the Laboratory Manager (Kingston).
You will have relevant professional or technical qualifications from an Australian tertiary institution or a comparable overseas qualification, or relevant experience and training.
The typical employment period for Station Laboratory Managers varies between 3 to 7 months.
Recreation Leave - You will accrue recreation leave at the equivalent of 20 days for each full year worked. Please note that recreation leave is not available in Antarctica.
Superannuation - A generous employer superannuation contribution of up to 15.4% will be paid in addition to salary and allowances.
