Annual base salary
(while in Australia)$70,667 pa ($2,709 per fortnight before tax)
In addition whilst working in Antarctica allowances of $52,632 pa are payable.
As the Station Mechanical Supervisor (SMS) you'll manage the Station mechanical section's operations. You're responsible for the operation and mechanical maintenance of power houses, and maintenance of mobile and stationary mechanical plants.
You'll also manage:
- fuel farms and other fuel and lube storage
- the mechanical workshop, mechanical spares and consumable stocks, and
- the training and endorsement of expeditioners to operate vehicles and mechanical plant.
Outside of management and supervisory roles, you'll perform mechanical work and operate equipment as part of the mechanical team. As well as supporting station and field operation, and assisting with science programs when necessary.
You will have a suitable trade qualification (motor mechanic, diesel mechanic, plant mechanic, fitter & turner etc).
The typical employment period for Station Mechanical Supervisors is approximately 15 months.
Recreation Leave - You will accrue recreation leave at the equivalent of 20 days for each full year worked. Please note that recreation leave is not available in Antarctica.
Superannuation - A generous employer superannuation contribution of up to 15.4% will be paid in addition to salary and allowances.
