Annual base salary (while in Australia)
$72,590 pa ($2,783 per fortnight before tax)
In addition whilst working in Antarctica allowances of $54,460 pa are payable.
As Building Services Supervisor (BSS) you co-ordinate the on-site activities of a group of multi-skilled trades personnel, including electricians, plumbers and carpenters, who are engaged in operational and planned preventive maintenance, construction and refurbishment projects over winter.
The BSS position is only available with a minimum of 15 months duration, consisting of 3 months in Hobart pre-departure training and 12 months in Antarctica.
You'll be required to monitor and report on the progress of the winter work program, as well as operate and maintain a computerised maintenance management system. The BSS is a working manager and is required to perform the duties of either plumber, carpenter or electrician
As part of the station leadership team, you'll actively work to ensure effective delivery of the program and support all AAD policies. Over the summer, you will report to the Engineering Services Supervisor (ESS) who will take responsibility for the summer works program.
You will have a suitable trade or technical certificate from within the building trade industry and also current or recent hands-on trade experience in the building industry.
Additional courses and/or training in the industry are an advantage.
Recreation Leave - You will accrue recreation leave at the equivalent of 20 days for each full year worked. Please note that recreation leave is not available in Antarctica.
Superannuation - A generous employer superannuation contribution of up to 15.4% will be paid in addition to salary and allowances.
