Electrician & Instrument Electrician
The Australian Antarctic Division is now accepting applications for job opportunities supporting the 2018–19 Australian Antarctic Program.

Overview of the role
As an Electrician you will install, operate and maintain a station's primary diesel generation power source and associated electrical reticulation systems, including all refrigeration plant, the building monitoring and control system (BMCS) and the automatic fire detection/alarm systems. You will also assist other trades as required.
In addition to the Electrician's role, an Instrument Electrician will also be responsible for installing, tuning and maintaining instrumentation and SCADA systems for complex plant such as reverse osmosis units, waster water treatment plant and wind turbines.
Electricians can be employed in either summer or winter jobs; shorter winter opportunities may also arise. Electricians are employed at all three Antarctic stations as well as Macquarie Island.

Salary and allowances
The annual base salary (while in Australia) for Electrician is $64,376 per annum ($2,468 per fortnight before tax).
The annual base salary (while in Australia) for Instrument Electrician is $72,287 per annum ($2,771 per fortnight before tax).
Additional allowances totalling $59,186 per annum are payable while working in Antarctica.
A generous employer superannuation contribution of up to 15.4% will be paid in addition to salary and allowances.
You will accrue recreation leave at the equivalent of 20 days per annum pro rata. Please note that recreation leave is not available in Antarctica, but will be paid out on return to Australia.
