Overview of the role

As Aerodrome Grader Operator (AGO) at Wilkins you will be directly involved in the construction and maintenance of the Wilkins aerodrome. You will also have a role in the operation of the aerodrome after receiving appropriate training.

The AGO position may be offered as either a summer or winter job.

Employment conditions

Salary and allowances

The annual base salary (while in Australia) is $61,275 per annum ($2,349 per fortnight before tax).

Additional allowances totalling $56,335 per annum are payable while working in Antarctica.


A generous employer superannuation contribution of up to 15.4% will be paid in addition to salary and allowances.

Recreation leave

You will accrue recreation leave at the equivalent of 20 days per annum pro rata. Please note that recreation leave is not available in Antarctica, but will be paid out on return to Australia.
