Each station has a medical suite that contains a consulting room, dental and examination room, operating theatre, laboratory, two-bed ward and bathroom, storeroom and an area with a bath for treating hypothermia.

The medical suites are well equipped with instruments and a comprehensive selection of pharmaceuticals and supplies including radiology, laboratory and operating theatre facilities. The equipment is continually being reviewed and upgraded.

Telemedicine has been used successfully from Antarctica to Australia for decades. Communication between AMPs and medical support systems in Australia is given the highest priority. Satellite technology enables high quality communications by phone, fax and email, and transmission of quality diagnostic images.

Head office doctors are always on call and have their collective expertise and experience backed up by consultants from all medical specialities around Australia.
