Albert Bruehwiler spent three winters in the Antarctic as well as one on Macquarie Island and consistently showed great compassion, wisdom, tolerance and understanding of the demands of living in isolation and has made a contribution to the well-being of members of Antarctic station communities that has few parallels during each of his winters and summers down south.

He has always been a highly respected leader of the mechanical maintenance team with the rare ability to keep those under him productive and harmonious in trying conditions.
