Dr Diana Williams was the Medical Officer at Macquarie Island in 1981, at Mawson in 1984 and at Heard Island for the 1985/86 summer, providing health care services to a very high standard.

Diana’s research work, which culminated in the award of her Doctorate of Medicine, was performed under extreme difficulties without the usual laboratory support. This work has been recognised internationally as making an outstanding contribution to areas of immunology, endocrinology and health in polar regions.
