Ted Mead is an accomplished photographer. His work encompasses landscape, wildlife and macro photography.
Ted photographed the Antarctic landscape and wildlife over the summer of 2005–06. This completed his photographic project The Land of Extremes, which includes images from the arid outback and the wet tropics.
The collection was exhibited at Tasmania's Cradle Mountain Wilderness Gallery over the 2006-07 summer. It was also shown in a travelling exhibition arranged through the national museum network.
